Ruby OpenID maintains Ruby libraries for OpenID v2 and related integrations.
OpenID v2 is not OpenID Connect. OpenID v2, finalized in 2007, is the predecessor standard. OIDC began formulation in 2011 and is the successor standard. OpenID v2 is not based on OAuth 2, while OIDC is.
The ruby-openid stack is old-standard infrastructure that still has users. These projects keep that software installable, documented, tested, and easier to migrate or integrate with modern Ruby applications.
